App Terms of Service
Last updated: 31 August 2026
These terms govern your use of the Wake iPhone app. Buying the Wake device itself is covered by our shop terms of service, and what the app does with your data is covered by our app privacy policy.
The app is provided by Giig ApS, Holmbladsvænge 7, 4. th., 2300 København S, Denmark, CVR 44219875. In these terms, “we” and “us” mean Giig ApS, and “you” means you.
Agreeing to these terms
By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
You need to be at least 13 to use Wake. If you are under 18, you need permission from a parent or guardian.
What Wake is
Wake is an alarm clock that blocks apps you choose until you scan a physical Wake device with your phone. The app needs a Wake device to be useful. The device is sold separately.
The app uses Apple's Screen Time and alarm frameworks. What it can and cannot do is limited by what iOS allows, and that can change when Apple changes it.
Two things Wake is not
Please read this part properly. It is the honest description of a tool that runs on top of somebody else's operating system.
Wake is not a guaranteed way to wake up
Do not rely on Wake alone for anything that matters. The app asks iOS to ring an alarm, and whether that alarm rings on time is up to iOS, not up to us. An alarm can be delayed, silenced, or missed entirely — because the phone was off or out of battery, because a Focus mode or a system setting intervened, because iOS chose to defer background work, or because of a fault in the app.
If waking at a particular time has consequences you cannot accept — a flight, a shift, a medical reason — use a second, independent alarm.
Wake is not a security product or a parental control
The blocking is best-effort. It works by asking iOS to hide the apps you picked, and a determined person can get around it: by deleting Wake, by turning off the Screen Time permission, by using another device, or by using the skips described below. Wake is built to make an impulse harder, not to make an app unreachable.
Do not use Wake as a parental control, as an accountability tool where the stakes are serious, or anywhere that circumventing it would cause real harm.
Your account
You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping your sign-in secure. Tell us at support@wakealarm.dk if you think someone else has access to it.
You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Account → Delete account inside the app. That deletes your history immediately and permanently, and we cannot restore it afterwards.
Skips
A skip ends a block without scanning your Wake. It exists so that being without your Wake is inconvenient rather than a disaster.
Free skips. A new installation of the app comes with three free skips. They belong to that installation rather than to your account, they are provided as a courtesy, and we may change or withdraw them in a future version.
Purchased skips. You can buy skips in packs through Apple's In-App Purchase. Purchased skips are attached to your account and are restored when you sign in again. They are consumable: once spent, a skip is gone. Skips have no cash value, cannot be transferred or sold, and cannot be exchanged for money.
Payments and refunds. Apple takes the payment and Apple handles refunds under the App Store's own terms. We cannot issue a refund for an App Store purchase ourselves. If something went wrong, write to us and we will help you sort it out with Apple.
What you may not do
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or tamper with the app, except where the law says you may.
- Use the app to break the law, or to interfere with anyone else's use of it.
- Try to obtain skips, or bypass paying for them, by any means other than buying them.
- Copy, resell, rent, or sublicense the app.
Your licence
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app on Apple devices you own or control, in line with the App Store's Usage Rules. We keep all rights we have not explicitly given you here, including in the Wake name and design.
Changes, and stopping
We may change the app, add or remove features, or stop offering it. If we stop offering it entirely, we will tell you in advance where we reasonably can, and you will be able to export or delete your data before we do.
We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms. You can stop using Wake at any time.
Liability
The app is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for anything that follows from an alarm not ringing, from a block not holding, or from data lost through a fault in the app or in a service it depends on.
Nothing here takes away rights you have as a consumer. Mandatory consumer protection under Danish and EU law applies regardless of what these terms say, and where they conflict, the law wins.
The App Store
Apple requires us to say the following, and it is accurate:
- These terms are between you and Giig ApS, not between you and Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content.
- Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for the app. Support is ours, at support@wakealarm.dk.
- If the app fails to conform to any warranty that applies, you may tell Apple, and Apple will refund what you paid for the app. Beyond that refund, Apple has no warranty obligation regarding the app.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for handling any claim that the app or your use of it causes — product liability, a failure to meet a legal requirement, or a claim under consumer protection law.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for investigating and resolving any claim that the app infringes someone's intellectual property.
- You confirm you are not in a country subject to a US Government embargo or designated as terrorist-supporting, and that you are not on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms, and Apple has the right to enforce them against you.
Which law applies
These terms are governed by Danish law. If you are a consumer resident in the EU, you keep the protection of the mandatory law of the country you live in, and you may bring proceedings in your own country's courts.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms we will update the date at the top. If a change materially affects your rights, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect.
